It is hard to express in words all the emotions we experienced during our 11-day tour. We really enjoyed Murchison Falls National Park and the Kibale Forest chimpanzee tracking (the main reason for our trip). Initially, we had thought about skipping Murchison. Don’t do it! In our opinion, it is worth every minute spent there. Florence was extremely kind and helpful in answering all our questions before we arrived in Uganda, and even though we asked for the cheapest accommodation options, the lodges were fantastic, the food was good, and the people were lovely. We also cannot express how grateful we are to our guide, Bryt. He always did his best to guarantee the best spots to see wild animals during the game drives, explained everything we were seeing, and was always happy to meet our requests. Everything was perfect!

I was disappointed in this operator for organizing a 3-day to Bwindi that had me staying 2 nights at the same lodge. Other operators offer one night at Lake Bunyoni...for $300-400 cheaper.....and my pickup/drop-off was Kabale!! My fault for not clarifying nor comparing prices.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Safari Experience!! I joined a group as a solo traveller and I shared this great experience with other 3 incredible women. We had an excellent safari experience with Katella Safaris from start to finish. Everything was well organized, smooth, and exceeded the expectations. Our guide Salongo was outstanding — knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about wildlife. He was excellent at spotting animals and sharing interesting information, which really enhanced the safari experience. Thanks to Salongo, we saw amazing wildlife and felt well taken care of throughout the trip. I highly recommend Katella Safaris to anyone planning a safari in Uganda. i would definitely travel with them again!

Our family (my husband, myself, our 2 daughters- 23 & 25, and my sister-in-law) have traveled a lot and this adventure with KATELLA UGANDA SAFARIS was definitely one of the best we've done! Florence and our driver, Noah, were fantastic! They greeted us at the airport and Noah drove us everywhere in the safari ready Land Cruiser, our cool vehicle for the 2 week trip. Everything was well planned and taken care of from that point. Noah was such a pleasure- always smiling, an excellent driver, and never failing to answer our endless questions. All of our accommodations (we requested mid-level pricing) met or exceeded our expectations. They were clean, comfortable, and pampered us with luxuries and plentiful, tasty meals and friendly, professional staff. Honestly, we had to start requesting to share some meals between the 5 of us as we were not used to eating so much! We visited during shoulder season, end of November, which turned out to have perfect weather and was much less crowded on game drives and at the inns. The animal experiences were each amazing and different as we drove around the country visiting multiple national parks (lots of driving, but lots to see along the way). Our first stop from Kampala was ZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY: a thrilling and inspiring visit, seeing the rhino moms and their young up close! Next, at MURCHISON FALLS, where we saw lots of baboons along the road and experienced the exhilarating (drenching) spray of the mighty, beautiful falls. At MURCHISON NATIONAL PARK, we saw many giraffes, varieties of antelope, birds, monkeys, elephants, warthogs, and a beautiful sunset. We also enjoyed a small private small boat up the banks on the Nile River, where we got close views of numerous hippos, buffalos, elephants, birds, crocodiles, and a view of the base of the falls. At KIBALE PARK NATIONAL PARK, we saw views of the CRATER LAKES, and BIGODI WETLAND SANCTUARY where we saw traditional dancing and basket making, red colobus monkeys, and Chimpanzees. The chimps got our hearts pounding as we encountered them screeching loudly, racing closely by our legs, in their quest for some tasty lunch in the trees above us. This was truly a highlight of our trip! The cultural village walk was so interesting, too. We met locals, tasting their products as they prepared them - banana beer and gin (who knew?- It was delicious!!), robusto coffee, charming local children, and the fascinating traditional healer. Next stop, QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK. More amazing sightings of the animals and a group of lions in and below a distant tree. On a boat up the Kazinga Channel, we had close up views of crocs, hippos, buffalo, and a few elephants (one mom nursing her baby so close we could hear its sucking noises). Next was the BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST where I was excited but anxious about meeting the gorillas. It was truly a lifetime experience- first hiking into the jungle and then to observe a beautiful, gentle family, including a silver back, 2 babies with their moms, and 3 others while they fed and rested. Later we went to the Batwa (pygmy) village. It was a fascinating return to primal living evolving into the current ways of life. Off to MGAHINGA PARK and LAKE BUNYONI for views and lots of golden monkeys -endlessly amusing to watch them eating bamboo and interacting. Next, a drive to LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK, with the highlight of walking with a ranger near to the numerous giraffes and zebra. Our final stop was the MABAMBA SWAMP, where we took small canoes to observe the shoebill birds that live there. Luckily, we spotted one, with its interesting large beak, where we stood gazing at each other in the peaceful swamp. It was sad to say goodbye to the beautiful people, places, and wildlife of Uganda. KATELLA UGANDA SAFARIS, with Florence at the helm, made this amazing experience possible for us. I would not hesitate to use their services again or to recommend them to others!

From the start, Florence made planning my safari stress-free. Her communication was prompt, clear, and so helpful. Booking was seamless, everything handled perfectly! The trip- absolutely amazing!! I booked the 7-days Best of Rwanda Safaris and it was incredible — chimpanzee trekking & canopy walk, gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking, Lake Kivu, and more. Every day was organized and balanced so I could fully enjoy the adventure. A huge shoutout to Yona, my driver from my arrival to airport drop off. Driving me throughout Rwanda for 7 days to include many hours on the road. Traveling solo, I felt completely safe and cared for — he expertly navigated the roads, hotel check-ins, meals, and daily logistics. He was prompt and patiently waited for me to return from trekking. He listened and was willing to take me anywhere I wanted to go. A great friendship was made! Katella Uganda Safaris made this trip fun, smooth, and truly unforgettable! I will be booking with them for my visit to Uganda. Thank you Florence & Yona!!

We booked a 4-day trip with Katella and had a fantastic experience. Florence was super responsive and friendly, and our guide Noah was incredible! He was very knowledgeable, always smiling, and a great driver — we felt completely safe during our long 10-hour drive to Bwindi.

I booked our tour through Katella based on the 5 star reviews and the fact that I liked supporting a company run by a local Ugandan woman. Florence prepared a great itinerary with 10 nights in Uganda and 9 nights in Tanzania based on the budget I gave her. We were pleased with the activities and the accommodations in both countries, with some exceeding our expectations. Our driver in Uganda was Noah and he did a great job communicating with us; keeping our belongings safe in the jeep; being punctual every day and driving safely at all times. Our driver in Tanzania, Edwin, unfortunately didn't meet our expectations, especially considering the experience we had with Noah in Uganda. Edwin was not on time most days; drove recklessly at times (making our drive very uncomfortable); communicated poorly and did not always execute his plans for the day. However, he did get us close to the animals to get great photos and was a nice person. Our 3rd day in the Serengeti is when our disappointment began. We had to wait 45 minutes at the gas station so that the fuel purchase could be approved by the office. After driving a couple of hours, the jeep broke down. Luckily, Edwin arranged with another tour company for us to be driven back to our camp. At the camp, Edwin advised us that he would be back around 5:30 pm and that we would go on a night drive. As he was not back by 5:30 pm, I contacted Florence asking for an update. Florence replied that the mechanics were done and that Edwin would be there with us. When I expressed our disappointment of missing a full safari drive, Florence replied that Edwin would ensure we have a game drive before we left for Moshi the next day. To note - Moshi is about a 9 hr drive from where we were in the Serengeti. I asked instead that we stay an extra night where we were staying and do a full game drive the next day. Florence said it was too late to make a decision and that it would have to wait until the morning. Edwin finally got back to the camp around 8:00 pm. He spoke with management at the Tanzanian office and we agreed that we would do a game drive to the Northern part of the Serengeti; a drive to the Central part and then head to our accommodation in Karatu (which was closer than Moshi) in the morning. During our drive back from the North, we ran out of fuel. Edwin was aware that there wasn't enough fuel in the tank. This may have been the reason he was speeding doing 80 km/hr on the bumpy road. It appears that management controls the amount of fuel Edwin can put in. We were stranded for about 45 minutes until some fuel was delivered. We continued on our journey, not stopping in the Central part as originally stated, still doing 80 km/hr. Edwin finally slowed down in the Ngorongoro region where the roads were narrow and windy and it was pitch black out. We finally arrived at our accommodation in Karatu after 9 pm. Total time in the car being uncomfortable and feeling unsafe was over 14 hrs. Florence has not followed up with us since our original conversation three days ago. Her lack of communication is interpreted to be an indifference to the inconvenience and safety issues we had experienced. Considering that we paid a substantial sum for the tours, we expected more of her. The experience in Uganda would be rated a 5 and that in Tanzania a 3. Therefore, an overall rating of 4 was given.
