⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Safari Experience!! I joined a group as a solo traveller and I shared this great experience with other 3 incredible women. We had an excellent safari experience with Katella Safaris from start to finish. Everything was well organized, smooth, and exceeded the expectations. Our guide Salongo was outstanding — knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about wildlife. He was excellent at spotting animals and sharing interesting information, which really enhanced the safari experience. Thanks to Salongo, we saw amazing wildlife and felt well taken care of throughout the trip. I highly recommend Katella Safaris to anyone planning a safari in Uganda. i would definitely travel with them again!Posted on agnes cruells Our family (my husband, myself, our 2 daughters- 23 & 25, and my sister-in-law) have traveled a lot and this adventure with KATELLA UGANDA SAFARIS was definitely one of the best we've done! Florence and our driver, Noah, were fantastic! They greeted us at the airport and Noah drove us everywhere in the safari ready Land Cruiser, our cool vehicle for the 2 week trip. Everything was well planned and taken care of from that point. Noah was such a pleasure- always smiling, an excellent driver, and never failing to answer our endless questions. All of our accommodations (we requested mid-level pricing) met or exceeded our expectations. They were clean, comfortable, and pampered us with luxuries and plentiful, tasty meals and friendly, professional staff. Honestly, we had to start requesting to share some meals between the 5 of us as we were not used to eating so much! We visited during shoulder season, end of November, which turned out to have perfect weather and was much less crowded on game drives and at the inns. The animal experiences were each amazing and different as we drove around the country visiting multiple national parks (lots of driving, but lots to see along the way). Our first stop from Kampala was ZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY: a thrilling and inspiring visit, seeing the rhino moms and their young up close! Next, at MURCHISON FALLS, where we saw lots of baboons along the road and experienced the exhilarating (drenching) spray of the mighty, beautiful falls. At MURCHISON NATIONAL PARK, we saw many giraffes, varieties of antelope, birds, monkeys, elephants, warthogs, and a beautiful sunset. We also enjoyed a small private small boat up the banks on the Nile River, where we got close views of numerous hippos, buffalos, elephants, birds, crocodiles, and a view of the base of the falls. At KIBALE PARK NATIONAL PARK, we saw views of the CRATER LAKES, and BIGODI WETLAND SANCTUARY where we saw traditional dancing and basket making, red colobus monkeys, and Chimpanzees. The chimps got our hearts pounding as we encountered them screeching loudly, racing closely by our legs, in their quest for some tasty lunch in the trees above us. This was truly a highlight of our trip! The cultural village walk was so interesting, too. We met locals, tasting their products as they prepared them - banana beer and gin (who knew?- It was delicious!!), robusto coffee, charming local children, and the fascinating traditional healer. Next stop, QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK. More amazing sightings of the animals and a group of lions in and below a distant tree. On a boat up the Kazinga Channel, we had close up views of crocs, hippos, buffalo, and a few elephants (one mom nursing her baby so close we could hear its sucking noises). Next was the BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST where I was excited but anxious about meeting the gorillas. It was truly a lifetime experience- first hiking into the jungle and then to observe a beautiful, gentle family, including a silver back, 2 babies with their moms, and 3 others while they fed and rested. Later we went to the Batwa (pygmy) village. It was a fascinating return to primal living evolving into the current ways of life. Off to MGAHINGA PARK and LAKE BUNYONI for views and lots of golden monkeys -endlessly amusing to watch them eating bamboo and interacting. Next, a drive to LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK, with the highlight of walking with a ranger near to the numerous giraffes and zebra. Our final stop was the MABAMBA SWAMP, where we took small canoes to observe the shoebill birds that live there. Luckily, we spotted one, with its interesting large beak, where we stood gazing at each other in the peaceful swamp. It was sad to say goodbye to the beautiful people, places, and wildlife of Uganda. KATELLA UGANDA SAFARIS, with Florence at the helm, made this amazing experience possible for us. I would not hesitate to use their services again or to recommend them to others!Posted on Sierra Cheslick Katella was the best travel agent to organize my sister and I one month vacation to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Every detail was perfect and Florence made sure that she listened to what we wanted and over delivered. I would use them over and over again. This trip over exceeded our expectations thank you🙏Posted on Viviane Joly From the start, Florence made planning my safari stress-free. Her communication was prompt, clear, and so helpful. Booking was seamless, everything handled perfectly! The trip- absolutely amazing!! I booked the 7-days Best of Rwanda Safaris and it was incredible — chimpanzee trekking & canopy walk, gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking, Lake Kivu, and more. Every day was organized and balanced so I could fully enjoy the adventure. A huge shoutout to Yona, my driver from my arrival to airport drop off. Driving me throughout Rwanda for 7 days to include many hours on the road. Traveling solo, I felt completely safe and cared for — he expertly navigated the roads, hotel check-ins, meals, and daily logistics. He was prompt and patiently waited for me to return from trekking. He listened and was willing to take me anywhere I wanted to go. A great friendship was made! Katella Uganda Safaris made this trip fun, smooth, and truly unforgettable! I will be booking with them for my visit to Uganda. Thank you Florence & Yona!!Posted on Amy Harrington We booked a 4-day trip with Katella and had a fantastic experience. Florence was super responsive and friendly, and our guide Noah was incredible! He was very knowledgeable, always smiling, and a great driver — we felt completely safe during our long 10-hour drive to Bwindi.Posted on Ana Carolina Garcia Best experience ever. So much better than I imagined. Florence help plan and my guide went above and beyond to make sure I had the ultimate experience. I can't thank them enough. There was lots of early mornings and travelling, but it was so worth itPosted on Joanne Janson Amazing adventure organised and given by Katella. I highly recommend them from booking , organising to the tour , fabulous company, highly recommend, Thank youPosted on Michelle Griffiths Dream come true—our expectations were exceeded with Katella Uganda Safaris. My sister and I just completed the 8 Days Primates and Wildlife Safari in Uganda, and it was an unforgettable experience. Communication with Florence before and during the trip was excellent, and the planning of activities as well as the daily coordination with our guide, Moses, was seamless. Our safari car was comfortable for the long drives, and the pop-up roof was perfect for wildlife viewing. Each accommodation Florence booked had us saying, “It can’t get better than this”—and yet, every time, it did. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Moses. He’s a family man with a heart of gold and eagle eyes for spotting wildlife. One of my favorite memories was when my sister said, “Pineapple! I love pineapple!” after spotting women selling them on the roadside. Without hesitation, Moses pulled over, bought one, and later found a shaded spot along the road where he cut it up for us to share. This is just one special memory of many that I will remember forever. We highly recommend Katella Uganda Safaris and hope to return to Uganda—with Katella and Moses again.Posted on Savanna Morrisette Gorilla trekking in Rwanda was absolutely magical. My children (ages 5 and 7) were not old enough to join my husband and I on the trek (must be 15+) and Florence was able to find alternate experiences that they could enjoy while we were visiting Rwanda as well - the Ellen DeGeneres campus and museum was a favorite of my daughter, and the trip to a nearby cultural village was a favorite of my son. A great family trip had by all!Posted on Monique Jacobs
Posted on HelenB Safari Uganda and Tanzania wonderful experience Not just Uganda but Tanzania's famous Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater as well. We had a fabulous time highlights being the Shoebill birds and the Silverback gorillas trek in Uganda and the safari experience in Tanzania. The nightime safari in Uganda was pretty special as well. Altogether the food, guide, accommodation and the wildlife made forever happy memories ♥️Posted on Helene P Perfect trip! As a solo female traveler, I was a bit nervous at first when I started planning my trip to Uganda. Florence made me feel at ease from day one. Everything went smoothly, the planning, the communications, the transfers, all the activities (gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, shoebills observation). The choices of lodges was great, food excellent. My guide Deneson was very attentive and knowledgeable. I spent a fantastic week in Uganda and enjoyed every minute of it thanks to Florence, Deneson and the team of Katella! Do not hesitate to go with them for an experience of a lifetime!Posted on Adriatic2020 Amazing Uganda Adventure Just returning from an absolutely incredible 7 day primate and wildlife adventure safari in Uganda. Florence, at Katella, helped us plan every detail. She was there to answer any questions. Accommodations were perfect and food incredible. We were blown away at all that Uganda has to offer from the chimpanzees at Kibale, crater lakes, beautiful lush greenery, Kazinga channel (wow), Queen Elizabeth safari and Gorillas at Bwindi - all once in a lifetime experiences. Noah, our driver, was the best. He got us everywhere safely and was always on time and just so courteous. The Ugandan people, especially the children, were just so warm and welcoming. We will never forget those smiles and hellos ❤️ Uganda is truly the Pearl of Africa- an undiscovered treasure that we feel blessed to have experienced. Highly recommend to put Uganda at the top of your travel list and let Katella plan the rest! Many many thanks to Florence and Noah ❤️❤️Posted on drkkerns Trip of a lifetime! I am so happy to share about the wonderful experience we had on our private safari trip to Uganda and Rwanda with Katella Uganda Safaris! We were met at the Entebbe airport by our driver and guide, who was with us for the entire 3 weeks. I didn't take any time at all to feel comfortable and pampered in the Landcruiser, with plenty of room for 4 of us (and all our bags) - even on some of the often rough roads and and safari tracks! Our trip started with a day in Kampala learning more about the country, and its history. That night we had an amazing outdoor cultural experience with music and dance from all around Uganda and a wonderful dinner. The next day we were off to see white rhinos, the fabulous Murchenson Falls, and our first night in a lodge. On our first game drive the next morning we saw elephants, giraffe, Cape Buffalo, Water Bucks, warthogs, lions and a leopard. Each day that followed we visited different parks and reserves on early morning and evening safari rides to see animals leaving for or returning to resting places. With the pop-top land cruiser we felt safe and secure with plenty of room for everyone to put their cameras and binoculars to good use, as there were always animals to admire! Our guide was an incredible spotter, and for those of us who had difficulty picking an animal out of the background he was always patient and pointed us in the right direction. The tour included a number of excellent treks in national parks to see chimpanzees, gorillas, and golden monkeys. We also had several boat excursions down rivers or in lakes to see the many animals in the water at the shore during the day - hippos, crocodiles and more elephants! Wherever we went, we fount it to be a 'birders paradise' with so many beautiful and exotic species - I think our 'count' was 85! Our days were busy with adventures, so Katella always arranged our lodging to be close by. Every one of the lodges was wonderful! Staff members always greeted us with warm damp towels and a nice cool drink. The lodges were clean, quiet and comfortable, with attentive and kind staff members who were always there to help. Meals, all of which were included, were varied and always delicious, and frequently the chefs came out to meet us and discuss specific menu options. Katella also arranged a number of local jungle walks and community visits where we learned about local customs, more about the history and culture, saw beautiful crafts being made and met warm, welcoming people. It was our first trip to Africa and we couldn't have been happier with the great organization, thoughtful planning, local expertise and excellent communication Katella provided. We couldn't imagine a better experience and would definitely return! Thank you Katella for the trip of a lifetime!Posted on Jittiya D A lifetime African experience! Our 21-day journey with Katella Uganda Safaris through Uganda and Rwanda was nothing short of extraordinary—one of the most meaningful and unforgettable travel experiences we have ever had. Uganda’s landscapes are breathtakingly diverse. Trekking through the misty forests of Bwindi to encounter the majestic mountain gorillas was an experience beyond words! The chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest was equally thrilling, Beyond the primates, Uganda offered incredible wildlife viewing in its national parks. From elephants and lions to giraffes and countless bird species, every game drive felt like stepping into a nature documentary. The scenery—rolling hills, crater lakes, and the vast savannah—was spectacular at every turn. Rwanda added another beautiful dimension to the journey. Trekking to see golden monkeys was equally pleasing, hiking up Mt Bisoke to visit Dian’s gravesite was spiritually rewarding! Kigali is one of the cleanest and most vibrant cities we have visited in Africa! Thanks Florence for exceptional itinerary! The logistics of traveling across two countries for three weeks were handled seamlessly, allowing us to simply enjoy the adventure. The lodges were beautifully located, comfortable, and often surrounded by stunning nature and friendly staff! We return home deeply grateful for the experience and would recommend this journey wholeheartedly to anyone seeking a truly extraordinary African adventure.Posted on Lora W The Trip of a Lifetime Our 15-day Primates and Wildlife Safari in Uganda and Rwanda with Katella Uganda Safaris was truly the trip of a lifetime. From the moment we landed in Kigali, everything was seamlessly organized, and our guide Bryt made the entire journey unforgettable. The itinerary was perfectly balanced, blending wildlife adventures, cultural experiences, and stunning landscapes. We loved exploring Kigali, including the moving Genocide Memorial and vibrant craft markets, before heading to the foothills of the Virunga Mountains. The highlight, of course, was gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park, where we spent a magical hour watching a family of mountain gorillas feed, play, and care for their young. It was one of the most powerful wildlife encounters we’ve ever experienced. Visiting the Ibyiwacu Cultural Village afterward added a wonderful human connection to the journey. The adventure only got better as we crossed into Uganda and explored incredible parks like Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest, and Murchison Falls National Park. We observed tree-climbing lions in Ishasha, cruised the Kazinga Channel surrounded by hippos and crocodiles, and trekked through Kibale Forest to see chimpanzees swinging through the canopy. One of our favorite moments was standing at the top of the thunderous Murchison Falls and later spotting giraffes, elephants, and lions on the morning game drive. Throughout the trip, Bryt’s knowledge, patience, and warm personality elevated every experience—he seemed to know exactly where to find wildlife and was always eager to share insights about the landscapes, cultures, and people we encountered. The accommodations—from luxury safari lodges to beautifully appointed wilderness camps—were fantastic, and every detail was thoughtfully arranged. We wholeheartedly recommend Katella Uganda Safaris to anyone dreaming of an East African adventure. With an itinerary like this and a guide like Bryt, you’re guaranteed memories that will last a lifetime. We are deeply grateful to owner Florence for creating such a gorgeous itinerary.Posted on Lori Heiss Tiplady Amazing Rwanda / Uganda Experience We had an amazing safari traveling from Rwanda to Uganda and back, and the experience exceeded our expectations. Our driver Bryt was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, a safe driver, and genuinely great company. Spending time on the road with him was a pleasure, and his knowledge of the region added so much to the trip. Florence did a wonderful job organizing everything. From booking excellent hotels to arranging gorilla and golden monkey trekking permits and guiding us through visa requirements, every detail was handled seamlessly. The trekking experiences were absolutely unforgettable. We also highly recommend a stop at Lake Bunyonyi on the way back—it’s stunningly beautiful and the perfect place to relax after trekking. As a couple in our 50s traveling together, we appreciated how smooth, immersive, and well-organized the entire experience was. We highly recommend Bryt, Florence, and their company for anyone planning a Rwanda/Uganda safari.Posted on Molly M The trip of a lifetime Our family went on a 17 day safari through Katella Uganda Safaris in February 2026. A bucket-list trip for us, and we were SO pleased. Katella arranged a custom tour for the four of us that was perfect. Our trip focused on gorillas, chimpanzees and birds in addition to the usual big game. No disappointments there… I think standing near a silverback or listening to a chimp hoot in the trees might just make us better humans. Florence was super responsive both during the planning stage and while we were on the trip. Any questions/concerns answered promptly. Noah was a magnificent driver in the trusty Land Cruiser; he made us feel safe, was a game drive master and could make everyone smile. Patricia was a brilliant bird guide - dedicated, professional, patient and kind. 279 species, which is remarkable considering our casual birding pace. (For serious birders, she’ll find your endemics!) The lodges were beautiful, the food great. We experienced so many different parks, habitats, landscapes and wildlife. We highly recommend Katella Uganda Safaris and their staff and guides. The only sadness now is that our trip is over.Tripadvisor rating score: 4.9 of 5, based on 129 reviews
