This incredible 8-day adventure in Rwanda offers the opportunity for once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounters. You’ll track chimpanzees, spot monkeys, baboons, and other wildlife in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Trekking deep into the forests of Parc National des Volcans, you’ll search for endangered mountain gorillas with expert local rangers. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to explore Kigali, its clean streets, colorful markets, and the amazing wildlife in Akagera National Park.

Upon arrival, you will be met by our Company Representative, who will transfer you to your hotel in Kigali. Spend the rest of the day at leisure as you acclimatize to the Rwandan way.

In the morning, after breakfast at the hotel in Kigali, a Katella Uganda Safaris driver/guide will pick you up and take you to visit the Genocide Museum. Later, you will be driven to Nyungwe Forest National Park, located in southwest Rwanda. En route, you will visit the Royal Palace Museum in the Southern Province, where you will learn about the traditional ways of the Rwandese people and their leadership through kingship. Have lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the lodge for the overnight stay. Relax and get ready for the next day’s adventure.

Enjoy breakfast in the morning and then gather at Uwinka Reception for a briefing about chimpanzee tracking rules. After the briefing, you will meet the park ranger and guides who will take you on a trek for 1-4 hours in the forest to meet chimpanzees, which are usually spotted as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Once you find the awe-inspiring primates, you’ll spend one hour taking pictures and videos of this life-changing experience.
In the afternoon, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk—a swinging bridge 50m in length that is suspended from tall trees. You will be able to see the captivating rainforest from a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you.
Afterward, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on a journey through green rolling hills and spectacular landscapes to Volcanoes National Park—a paradise for the majestic mountain gorillas. You will check in at the lodge, relax, and prepare for tomorrow’s activity.
Overnight at Davinci Gorilla Lodge or similar. Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast

This morning after breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters at Kinigi for a briefing about mountain gorilla trekking from the park warden and rangers.
Along with your trekking gear, drinking water, and a packed lunch, you will embark on the captivating gorilla trek in the jungle forests of Volcanoes National Park, which may take 1-7 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas.
Upon encountering these giant primates, you will have a rewarding and exciting hour to learn about and watch the charming gorillas as they interact, play, mate, feed, build nests, and groom each other. Meeting the closest relatives of human beings is an adrenaline-pumping activity that offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience during your African safari.
Time permitting, you will have the opportunity to engage in optional activities, including a boat ride on Twin Lakes, a visit to Ibyiwacu Cultural Village, or a visit to the Ellen Degeneres Museum.
Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at 8:00 am. The driver-guide will pick you up and drive you to Akagera National Park. Upon arrival at the lodge, check in and have lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip on Lake Ihema to see water birds, crocodiles, and hippos. Afterward, you will return to your booked lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast at your lodge, your driver-guide will take you for a full-day game drive. Resident animals in this park include lions, antelopes, buffaloes, and elephants, among others. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

In the morning after breakfast, check out of your hotel and head to Kigali. Time permitting, you can visit other sites in Kigali before heading to the airport for your outbound flight to your next destination.
